“Shifter” – An Intense Sci-Fi Short Film from the Hallivis Brothers

Shifter TitleChanced upon an intense sci-fi short film today titled Shifter. Here’s a brief description from its creators, the Hallivis Brothers:

Los Angeles – 2023. James Striker is on the verge of bringing down the oppressive government that has crushed all freedom in the United States. But before he can take them on, Striker must get past a homicidal drone and an elite squad of EFT soldiers. His only advantage is the SHIFT, a process that allows Striker to transfer his mind into an identical clone body. New body, Same mission: Bring the whole system down.

It is filled with some pretty heavy-duty violence and action, which makes sense. The Hallivis brothers are trying to get people’s attention. However, I completely fell in love with the tech, and also, the editing is top-notch. On a more cerebral level, the entire concept of being able to shift consciousness from one body to another opens up countless story lines for exploring the bio-tech paradigm, which will be an important issue over the next several decades.

In what may be the best “About” section I’ve read in months, the Hallivis Brothers describe themselves thusly:
The Hallivis Brothers are a Los Angeles based director/producer duo that is comprised of two actual blood-related Mexican brothers that have been living in the United States (legally) for over 15 years. Julio Hallivis is an Executive Producer with a strong background in the advertising world. Diego Hallivis (the better looking one) has a post-production background that helped him jump into directing at a young age. The Hallivis Brothers’ first film “Game Time” was distributed by Lionsgate and their latest concept “Shifter” is getting a lot of attention and making a lot of buzz in the industry. They both work together on every step of all of their projects from the early stages of development until it reaches its final point of awesomeness.

The Hallivis Brothers.
If you happen to be a Hollywood producer, please give these two gentlemen millions of dollars to turn Shifter into either a full length film or television series. Even if it doesn’t end up exploring lofty Transhumanist, dystopian ideas, it certainly looks like it could be just as valid for mental defrag material as Riddick or Resident Evil.

If anything, I’d like to know if that was a clone of Angel. I hope everything turned out alright for her.

To get regular updates regarding Shifter, following its Facebook page is highly recommended.
