HBO's Scorsese-Jagger Drama Books Juno Temple

She'll play an executive at the record label overseen by Bobby Cannavale in the 1970s rock 'n' roll drama.

HBO's rock 'n' roll drama has found its aspiring assistant.
Juno Temple (The Dark Knight Rises) has boarded the cast of the cabler's untitled rock 'n' roll drama from Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

From exec producers Scorsese, Jagger, George Mastras and Terence Winter, the drama is set in 1970s New York, and explores the drug- and sex-fueled music business as punk and disco were breaking out, all told through the eyes of a record executive trying to resurrect his label and find the next new sound.

Bobby Cannavale stars as Richie Finestra, the founder and president of a top-tier record label (American Century Records) with a great ear for discovering talent, who undergoes a crisis of character when confronted with a life-altering decision. House's Olivia Wilde is set as his bohemian wife.

Temple will play Jamie Vine, an ambitious assistant in the A-and-R department of American Century. She uses her keen abilities to manipulate people and blend into the various subcultures of the New York music underground, in order to break through the glass ceiling and get ahead at the record label.

The drama hails from Boardwalk Empire's Winter and Scorsese, the latter of whom will direct and executive produce. Winter and Mastras will pen the script and exec produce; Mastras also will serve as showrunner.

The project is based on an idea from Rolling Stones frontman Jagger, who conceived the entry as a film first at Disney and then at Paramount. He will exec produce with his Jagged Films partner Victoria Pearman, and Scorsese's manager Rick Yorn and Emma Tillinger Koskoff. The drama marks a reunion for Scorsese, Jagger and Pearman, who collaborated on the 2008 documentary Shine a Light.

Production will likely start in early summer 2014.

Temple's credits include The Dark Knight Rises, Atonement, Afternoon Delight, Killer Joe and Magic Mike. Repped by UTA, Troika and attorney Jamie Feldman, she next appears in Truck Stop, Far From the Madding Crowd, Maleficent, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For as well as Len and Co.
