'The Other Woman' Appeals MPAA's R Rating
The Cameron Diaz-Leslie Mann-Kate Upton vehicle "The Other Woman" is the latest movie to battle an R rating assigned by the Motion Picture Association of America. Fox is appealing the restricted stamp that the film received for sexual references, TheWrap reports.
Directed by Nick Cassavetes ("The Notebook," "My Sister's Keeper"), "The Other Woman" centers on a trio of scorned females, all of whom are unknowingly (at first) dating the same man. They scheme to get revenge on their philandering beau.
It's likely Fox will make the adjustments needed to obtain a PG-13 rating, as "The Other Woman" has obvious teen appeal and won't want to squander that audience at the box office.
Recent movies that have successfully appealed their R ratings include "Philomena" and the upcoming football drama "Draft Day." Movies such as "Nebraska" and the documentary "Bully," on the other hand, weren't so lucky.
"The Other Woman" opens April 25.
