While Sarah Silverman may have gained a reputation for her wit, offensive sense of humour, and political activism, Hollywood elite started to take notice of her dramatic acting abilities after watching her supporting role in Sarah Polley’s ‘Take This Waltz’ co-starring Michelle Williams and Seth Rogen.
It has been announced that Silverman will be returning to the big screen for her first lead role in a dramatic film. She will play Laney Brooks, a “mordantly funny” character that “has a dark, dark inner life,” according to Showbiz 411 in the upcoming adaptation of Amy Koppelman’s “I’ll Smile Back’.

Brooke is a suburban New Jersey housewife whose life unravels after a horrific bout with alcohol, sex, and drug addiction.
Koppelman has co-written the script with Jakob Dylan’s wife, Paige Dylan.
“Amy wasn’t even thinking of writing a script until she heard Sarah doing on an interview on Howard Stern a couple of years ago. She called her up and said, I’m writing this for you. The two of them worked together on the script,” a source told Showbiz 411.
Silverman previously appeared in ‘School of Rock’ and ‘Peep World’, voiced Vanellope in ‘Wreck-It Ralph’, and stars in Seth MacFarlane’s upcoming ‘A Million Ways to Die in the West.’
