Should nudity keep me from auditioning for this film part?
I'm 23 and I'm a part time graduate student in LA who has been trying to make it as an actress full time. I've been in several commercials, had one TINY (non speaking part) in one SMALL hollywood movie, and have had parts in a few short films by student directors. I've also had a few stage parts. So it's going "OK" but nothing huge.
A friend of a friend knows the casting director for a major independent film by a major director, and thinks she can get me an audition (and a really high % shot at) a bit part in this movie. Far from a huge part, but I would have a couple of speaking lines, my name would appear in the credits, and I'd likely make it on screen for a couple of minutes (depending on editing). A HUGE chance/opportunity. I don't want to name the director or the film on here, but it would be a really good opportunity. It is a for-real independent film with a big name director and is not sketchy at all.
The catch? The scene would require full frontal nudity. I've never had to be naked in acting before. I know it can come with the territory, but it doesn't always "have" to. And full-frontal nudity, and prolonged nudity (I'll be nude for almost the entire scene) is a particularly scary way to get started. I have read the script and the scene/nudity does “fit”, and I don’t find it exploitive. But it is still scary as can be.
The movie is about a man and his wife who are on the verge of breaking up over trauma caused by the death of a child. At one point in the film he goes to a bar and meets me (or my part) and we talk and I give him advice/perspective on death (I don't know he is married) and then he hits on me. The scene will then cut to a short shot (3-4 seconds) of us in a hotel room having sex, mostly clothed. Then the next, long, shot is him sitting on the foot of the bed talking to his wife on the phone as I come out of the shower, dry off, and get dressed. Creating a contrast between what he is saying/talking about and what he has just been doing.
My friend is pulling big favors to get me the inside tract, so if I'm going to say no, I need to say no now (before I go for the audition). What are people's opinions?

i know you already picked a best answer but i think you should do it. As long as it isnt a porno, i see no issue with it. Unless youre super self conscious about your body why not? What is the worst thing that could possibly happen? Perhaps someone takes a picture and posts it on the internet, that will only make you more famous. Getting famous by questionable means isnt unheard or frowned upon, kid cudi is famous because he is a stoner, kim kardashian is famous because of that porno with ray j, jennette mcurdy just got a hell of a lot more famous because of those semi nude pictures and i doubt it will hurt your career. If your friend is pulling a lot of stings dont let them down do it. Think about it who knew who kim kardashian was before that porno? Obviously this isnt porn but without a doubt i think it could help your career a lot even if you dont get the part. Its a lot more than that, it also shows you are confident and comfortable with who you are which is kind of cheesey but important in everything you do in life.

The rough synopsis: "The movie is about a man and his wife who are on the verge of breaking up over trauma caused by the death of a child"....I saw it - in different wording - few weeks ago? It's the where I'm struggling to recall.
