‘True Detective’ Deleted Scene: Rust and Lori Break Up

It’s safe to say “True Detective” fans know that Detective Rust Cohle (Matthew McConaughey) is a complicated man, but this deleted scene sheds even more light on Cohle’s grief.

The clip features Cohle and Lori fighting about his “philosophies,” and how they prevent him from having children not only with her, but with anyone. In what ultimately ends with a breakup, the nearly three-minute-long clip shows Cohle remaining steadfast in his ways even though Lori, a doctor, tries to help him see having children as a means of “healing”.

HBO’s “True Detective,” co-starring Woody Harrelson, wrapped its first season Sunday night.
