Winona Ryder: 'I thought 50 Shades of Grey was about the economy'

Winona Ryder has revealed that she had a conversation with author EL James mistakenly thinking her hit novel Fifty Shades of Grey was about finance.
The actress told Red that she had been thrown by the book's sleeve, which depicts a smart tie.
"This is how out of the loop I am. I met EL James at a party and I'd heard about the book so I knew everyone was talking about it, but because there's a tie on the cover I thought it was about Wall Street!" Ryder said.
"I think I said something really stupid to her because I literally thought it was about the economy."
James's best-selling erotic thriller is currently being adapted into a movie, directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and starring Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele.
Luke Grimes, Marcia Gay Harden, Eloise Mumford, Jennifer Ehle and Rita Ora feature in the supporting cast.
The film wrapped filming last week, Taylor-Johnson confirmed.
As well as talking about her love for $10 vintage dresses and being a fan of Prime Suspect, Ryder also said that she would love to work with The Wire creator David Simon.
"[I'm] waiting for the thing that gives me that feeling," she said.
"I've been trying to write [David] a letter to tell him I want to work with him. But how do you write a letter to a writer? He's the person that I hope to work with one day.""
